We would like to offer you some suggestions for what to do while you are waiting for an appointment.

BreatheFor stress symptoms management

Online relaxation recordings: Relaxation and meditation exercises to facilitate stress reduction.

Free Apps:  For students who have smart phones, there are variousfree applications for managing stress / symptoms on daily basis.

Biofeedback Lab:  Use our self-help lab to improve stress-related physical and emotional symptoms. After you come to a single orientation session, you will be free to use the lab anytime the Counseling and Wellness Center is open. No appointment is necessary for the orientation session.

Emotional fitness workshops:  Learn practical skills for coping with depression, grief, anxiety, anger, trauma and other powerful emotional experiences. Students can attend one or more of these workshops at any time on a drop-in basis after an initial triage.

Anxiety reduction workshop: 
Students struggling with stress and anxiety are invited to learn hands-on skills such as relaxation, imagery, self-hypnosis or mindfulness to help reduce their stress and anxiety. No appointment is needed. Just stop by.

CWC Groups:  Check out our groups, specifically the USO groups (Understanding Self and Others). If you have questions about this modality in general, please read our FAQs.

If you are interested in group towards the end of the semester, we may need to schedule you to start group the following semester based on availability.

Consider working with a community provider who accepts your insurance

CWC Community Provider Referrals:  You can filter for type of insurance accepted and whether sliding scale is offered.

If you have questions about a community referral, contact Rizy Ettinger, our Case Manager/Community Liaison for assistance.

Alachua County Crisis Center:  Free individual counseling is also available at the Alachua County Crisis Center. Call (352) 264-6785 to make an appointment. Address: 218 SE 24th Street Gainesville, FL 32641. Availability may be limited at certain times.
