Group Listings | Summer 2016

Interested in joining a summer group? Schedule the triage appointment with the front desk. Your triage counselor, or existing counselor or psychiatrist, will then refer you to a group screening appointment to determine if you will be a good fit for the group. Group spots are limited so contact us quickly.

All groups meet at Radio Road location unless otherwise noted.

Themed Groups

Bereavement Support Tuesdays | 3:00-4:30 pm

Integrate the bereavement associated with a significant death in your life and use knowledge about yourself and the grieving process to maximize coping skills.

Coping with Medical Challenges Mondays | 1:00-2:30 pm

Promote coping with personal medical challenges through integration of mind-body healing from a psychological perspective and shared support from others. (Summer C).

Recovery Support (Peabody Hall) Mondays | 3:00-4:30 pm

Develop stress reduction and relapse prevention strategies, and gain strength from others in maintaining recovery. People in recovery from all addictions are welcome.

Sexual Assault Survivors Support Thursdays | 3:45-5:00 pm

Women survivors of an assault are welcome to begin or continue their healing journey while empowering them through connection with other survivors.

Success Not Excess (Peabody Hall) Tuesdays | 3:00-4:00 pm

Discuss your use of alcohol and other drugs in a non-judgmental setting. Develop an understanding of drugs of abuse and potential effects, identify warning signs for developing an addiction, and clarify values. Meets at Peabody Hall.

Relationship SkillsThursdays | 3:00-4:30 pm

This group offers practical guidance and support to foster satisfying and lasting relationships. Members will enhance their relationship skills through group discussion and brief and accessible readings.

Groups for Specific Populations

Graduate Students Support Mondays | 11:00am-12:30 pm

A place where grad students can seek support, ask for feedback, and focus on issues that impact happiness, effectiveness and life satisfaction. Come meet to network, discuss, and share concerns unique to students pursing advanced degrees. Topics may include academic, work/life balance, professional/personal relationships, family challenges – or whatever is interfering with your ability to overcome obstacles and succeed! Topics can vary from meeting to meeting depending on needs of group members present.

Invincible Black Women Tuesdays | 3:00-4:30 pm

Black women are empowered in discussing concerns facing them today and in gaining rituals, self-care, and connectedness for conquering negative patterns.

Sexual Orientation and Gender Groups

LGBTQ Empowerment Wednesdays | 3:30-5:00 pm

Explore issues related to sexual orientation and gender identity, and gain support in integrating your identity with other areas of your life. Summer A.

Trans Empowerment  Wednesdays | 2:00-3:30 pm

Explore the challenges and joys of integrating one’s gender identity and expression. Participants process their unique journey through self-awareness and exploration leading towards a greater sense of self-acceptance.

Intentional Peer Support (Peabody Hall) Tuesdays | 3:00-4:30 pm

Work together to develop awareness of personal and relational patterns; to view life experience from many angles; and to create new ways of seeing, thinking and doing.

Wellness Recovery Action Plan ® (Peabody Hall) Thursdays | 2:45-4:45 pm

Participants develop personal plans for maintaining wellness and for addressing internal and external signals of increasing distress. Group emphasizes hope, personal responsibility, education, self-advocacy and support.

Mindful Living and Coping Skills

Taming the Anxious Mind Multiple Times & Days

Learn and practice Mindfulness Meditation, a time-tested method for helping people quiet their minds, feel more relaxed, and non judgmentally focus on the present.
